Offshoring has become a norm in large software organizations, and small and medium businesses are targeted too. Nontheless, the results of offshore experiences vary from tremendous success to total failure.
This presentation will focus on the areas of concern when making offshore decisions, and different decision situations. Cost benefits will be weighed aganst the factors that contribute to the value of producing software in a particular location. To make argumentation more valuable, the line of thinking about offshoring will be illustrated by axperiences from related research literature, and own empirical studies conducted at Ericsson in Sweden.
