Mobile Wireless Test Automation

2. februar 2009
Over the last few years there has been an explosion of new users of Internet applications on and from their mobile phones.
Phones such as Apple’s iPhone and the Google Android software are continuing to fuel the explosion with users expecting rich,
fast user-experiences virtually anywhere, anytime and even while on the move.

This one day tutorial will help you to discover a wide range of practical ways to test mobile wireless software applications (software that uses a network connection to provide data and services for users).
The material has been developed while Julian has been working as a Senior Test Engineer for mobile applications at Google. The course is being actively developed to reflect our work and experiences. We would like to share it with you so collectively we are able to provide better software for the many millions of users!
The material includes over 100 pages of written guidance to help you to get started and to improve your testing. Google, and other companies, are actively working to provide some suitable tools for test automation.

Main subjects:
• You will learn about practical techniques which can help you to get started and improve the effectiveness of your testing of mobile applications.
• You are encouraged to get involved, ask your questions you need answering on the subject.
• Mobile applications are expanding rapidly, and both fun and challenging to work with!

Presenter:
Julian Harty, Google, UK
Julian is a Senior Test Engineer at Google where he has worked on testing and test automation for mobile wireless applications for over 30 months. He’s actively involved in various testing initiatives and communities e.g. he was on the examination panel of ISEB for 3 years, is part of the WOPR performance testing community, and has worked on non-functional testing for about 10 years (www.testingstandards.co.uk)

He’s presented at a wide range of conferences including keynotes at EuroSTAR, STARWEST and STAREAST. He has written articles on various testing topics including, most recently, an article titled six hats for software testers for “Better Software Magazine”.
