About DND-DAMA Norway

DND-DAMA Norway (“Dama Norway”) is a subsidiary of Den Norske Dataforening (DND), and as such is explicitly not-for-profit and vendor-independent, and it reports to DND Leadership. DAMA Norway’s primary purpose is to promote the understanding, development and practice of managing data and information as key enterprise assets to support the organization. DAMA Norway focuses particularly on delivering upon this purpose by supporting its members through Den norske dataforening.

DND-DAMA Norway’s vision is to standardize and formalize data management in Norway in order to increase competency and knowledge within data management. DND-DAMA Norway will facilitate and encourage the sharing of data management experience and wish to have a positive social impact upon society.

According to the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK2): “Data Management is the development, execution, and supervision of plans, policies, programs, and practices that deliver, control, protect, and enhance the value of data and information assets throughout their lifecycles.” We define anyone working with Data Management in any form or shape as a Data Management Professional.

Data Management is not only technical database administration, but holds a number of important business processes, roles and responsibilities. The DMBOK2 framework organizes Data Management into the following categories: Data Governance, Data Modeling and Design, Data Storage and Operations, Data Security, Data Integration and Interoperability, Document and Content Management, reference and Master Data, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Metadata, Data Quality, and Data Architecture.

As you can see, Data Management is a large and varied area of expertise! We hope to provide a meeting point for all Data Management Professionals. We are a bilingual group and may be contacted in both Norwegian and English (or Dutch, Spanish, French…).
