DAMA International is a not-for-profit, vendor-independent, global association of business and technical professionals dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information and data management.

DAMA International is a not-for-profit, vendor-independent, global association of business and technical professionals dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information and data management. The first DAMA chapter was formed in 1980 in Los Angeles, USA. Currently, there are 51 active DAMA chapters all over the worlds as well as 40+ forming chapters. There are hundreds of active, central members and 15 000 members overall.

DAMA International’s primary purpose is to promote the understanding, development and practice of managing data and information as key enterprise assets to support the organization.
DAMA International’s vision is to be an essential resource to those who engage in information and data management.

DAMA International provides the framework Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK2) which can be used as an extensive reference guide for central topics of Data Management. It is widely recognized and used by organizations across the world as a framework to structure their Data Management.

DAMA International also provides professional certification for Data Management Professionals, the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP). There are several levels of more general Data Management certifications, and also in specialized categories of Data Management in line with the DMBOK framework. The CDMP is recognized internationally among Data Management Professionals.
